Class of 2009 Graduation
"Following our record 65% A*-C grades at GCSE level we recently held a graduation ceremony for the class of 2009 on the 22nd of October.
Ex Year 11 pupils were presented with their GCSE certificates by our special guest, former British and European Lightweight champion boxer, John Thaxton. The parents and former pupils were treated to a motivating and uplifting insight into the boxers life and road to success during the evening.
In addition to receiving their certificates there was also the presentation of 24 individual awards for those pupils who have been considered to have 'gone the extra mile' during their time with us at Wayland. The award winners were as follows:
          English - Madeleine Hyde.             
                                                    English Literature - Amy Marshall.
          Maths - Shona Barnes.                   
                                                    Statistics - Edwin Barton.
          Science - Kirsty Hibbs.                      
                                                    BTEC Science - Kevin Holt.
          German -Shona Barnes.                   
                                                    French - Rebekah Page.
          Child Development - Sophie Julian.      
                                                    Religious Education - Connor Blake.  
          Graphics - Georgina Sellers.             
                                                    Textiles - Cherie Clayton.
          Food Technology - Ashley Bilverstone.  
                                                    Product Design - Simon Creed.
          ICT - Nadine Gatley.                        
                                                    Drama - Andrew Beales.
          Dance - Emma Clark.                         
                                                    Art - Adam Dawson.
          GCSE PE - Kirsty Hibbs.                    
                                                    Music - Laura Ward.
          History in memory of Nicola Smith - Jack Wright.
                                                    Geography -Michael Allen.                 
          Award for progress - Piers Grey.
         
          Contribution to school life in memory of Pamela Whiteley - Danny Mather. 
Following the ceremony, there was a buffet provided by the BTEC Hospitality students and the 'Friends' of the school. It was lovely to see all of the pupils again, congratulations and good luck for the future."
